The Winter Park Martinky resort is also magical because it has a rich history. It continues the tradition of skiing at Martinské hole, which has lasted for a whole century. Several historical milestones influenced the development of skiing at Martinské hole. The first was the founding of Sokol (1919) and the Czechoslovak Tourists Club (1921).
A ski club was established within both organizations, which already in its early days organized cross-country ski races through the streets of Martin. The second milestone was the establishment of tourist huts on the ridges of Krivánska and Lúčanská Mala Fatra.
